G-7 in Japan

G-7 communique lays out common 'de-risking' path on China

Document calls for international governance of AI and digital economy

HIROSHIMA, Japan -- The leaders of the Group of Seven nations issued a communique Saturday that included a nine-point aligned approach to reducing risks posed by China and called for international standards that regulate artificial intelligence.

The leaders noted that while members act in their own national interest, a common approach to China "underpins" their respective relations. The communique stipulates the need to de-risk, but not decouple, from the world's second-largest economy.
