TOKYO -- Okinawa's Shuri Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site, will be shrouded under a huge scaffold this summer, as reconstruction and reassembly of the key tourist attraction picks up pace.

Several buildings of the 500-year-old site were razed to the ground in a fire in October 2019, as their wooden structures gave way to the heat. Firefighters took over 10 hours to put out the flames.
