TAIPEI -- The "free world" needs to bolster alliances to support Taiwan, and Britain should reconsider its economic relationship with China, former British Prime Minister Liz Truss said Wednesday at the start of a five-day visit to the island.

"Things are shifting. If you remember, under the David Cameron and George Osborne era we were talking about the golden era with China," Truss told Nikkei Asia in an interview.
