TSMC struggles to keep new hires, warns of power supply risks

Taiwan chip titan spent $1bn on green initiatives last year, its own report shows

Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC says it spent around $1 billion in 2021, or around 1.7% of its revenue, on green initiatives. 

TAIPEI -- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. revealed it is struggling to retain new hires amid an intensifying battle for engineers, while also warning that Taiwan's precarious power and water supplies could potentially impact its operations on the island.

In its sustainability report released on Thursday, the Taiwanese tech titan also revealed that the global chip shortage sorely dented its customer satisfaction rating last year, as the company struggled to fill orders.
