TOKYO -- The Japanese government is poised to strengthen the collection of consumption tax on mobile games from overseas, Nikkei has learned.

The government plans to impose the obligation to pay the consumption tax on platform companies such as Apple and Google, which operate between game creators and consumers by providing content on app stores.
