KARACHI -- The collapse of Pakistan's last-mile delivery startup Airlift has sent shock waves across the investment and entrepreneurial community in the country's fledgling tech startup ecosystem.

The company announced the closure of operations last week on the third day of Eid, a three-day religious holiday celebrated in Pakistan. The decision followed layoffs and a retreat from markets in South Africa and Pakistan in May.
